Endodontics

Apply to the Graduate Endodontics Program

If you are applying to the Indiana University School of Dentistry’s Master of Science in Dentistry degree program and are planning to major in endodontics, you must meet the admission requirements and follow the application process outlined on this page.

The Graduate Endodontics Program participates in the American Dental Education Association Postdoctoral Application Support Service (ADEA PASS), a standardized application service for advanced dental education programs.

The application deadline is July 1 each year.

Admission requirements

To be eligible to apply to the program, you must:

  • Hold a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian dental school. Graduates of international dental schools who have an equivalent educational background and standing also are eligible to apply.
  • Have a cumulative dental school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have completed a one-year GPR or AEGD or have private practice experience.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the English language. If English is not your native language, you must earn a minimum score of 79 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT or 6.5 on the Cambridge International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
  • NBDE parts I and II or INBDE required for all applicants.
  • ADAT scores are not required, but they will be reviewed if you submit them.
  • Email a 2" x 2" headshot to the Office of Graduate Education at dsgrad@iu.edu.

Clinical and/or research experience will strengthen your application.

Step 3: Submit supplemental materials to the School of Dentistry

All applicants

All endodontics applicants must submit the supplemental materials listed here to the School of Dentistry. Read all the instructions carefully to ensure that you submit your materials correctly.

Download the certification of disciplinary history form, fill out the candidate section, and send it to your dental school. A school official must complete the form and email the completed form to dsgrad@iu.edu.

Endodontics applicants are required to submit official Dental Admission Test (DAT) scores. Have your scores sent from the testing agency directly to the School of Dentistry.

Email a 2" x 2" headshot to the Office of Graduate Education at dsgrad@iu.edu.

International applicants

International applicants are required to submit additional supplemental materials. You are considered an international applicant if either of these statements apply to you:

  • You are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident (green card holder), refugee, or political asylee whose secondary education was outside of the U.S.
  • You are not a U.S. citizen.

If English is not your native language, you must demonstrate English proficiency to be admitted to the M.S.D. program. You must earn a minimum score of 79 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT or a minimum score of 6.5 on the Cambridge International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Scores must be fewer than two years old.

To submit your scores, have the testing agency send an official score report to IU Indianapolis. The institution code for IU Indianapolis is 1325 (no department code).

If you’re admitted to the program, you will need to provide financial support information to the IU Indianapolis Office of International Affairs.

After you’ve submitted your application

You will be notified when the School of Dentistry receives your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. It’s up to you to verify that your application is complete.

After applications are reviewed, selected applicants are invited to the school for interviews. Following the interview process, applicants who are admitted to the program receive acceptance letters and contracts.
