Program Notes
* The fee defrays expenses associated with TEACH! - IU's core interprofessional education curriculum.
** Differential Fee replaces Instrument Purchase/Rental Fees.
*** Students should always refer to the Guides on the JCNDE website for the most up-to-date information about fees as they do change each year.
**** IU Mandatory Fee replaces General Fee, Technology Fee, and R&R Fee.
****** If fourth year students have not completed their requirements by graduation, they are required to enroll in 12 hours for the summer 2024 term.
POLICY:
If a student will not complete graduation requirements by the end of the summer term following the student's last scheduled semester, they must send notification to the Office of Education and Academic Affairs requesting enrollment for fall semester. The letter should include an estimation of completion of graduation requirements. Students requesting such an extension will be considered for approval as fifth-year student by the Dental Progress Committee. If approved, the student:
- Must enroll in D901 for 12 credit hours
- Must pay the flat resident or nonresident tuition fee
- Must pay the dental student rental fee
- Will be assigned to special clinic assignments for the fall semester
- Will be required to honor the 4th year clinical attendance requirement
- Will be required to attend all required 4th year classes, rounds, clinic meetings, etc.
- Even if the student completes all graduation requirements for December, they WILL be required to remain for the entire fall semester in order to complete all special clinical assignments and attendance requirements.
The withdrawal and refund dates schedule may be viewed on the IU Indianapolis official academic calendar.
Financial aid is available to eligible students. A limited number of donor-funded scholarships are available for dental students from IU School of Dentistry. Information pertaining to these scholarships will be given to all dental students during the fall semester. If you have questions about student loans, please contact the IU School of Dentistry Financial Aid Liaison at dentaid@iu.edu.
