Major Research Project Description
My lab’s research focuses on characterizing pathology and neurological dysfunction progression following nervous system injury and neurodegenerative disease. A key aspect of this research has been investigating disease progression and treatment utilizing novel cellular and pharmacological therapies. Our research heavily emphasizes biochemical, cellular, morphologic, and functional aspects of pathology and recovery. As such, the lab’s expertise includes functional, histologic, and in vitro investigation of neural tissue and neuromuscular pathology and repair and the cellular and molecular changes associated with these events. Our goals are to expand our understanding of neural trauma and neurodegeneration, develop effective therapies, and identify associations between trauma and neurodegenerative disease. Ultimately, our work aims to impact individuals afflicted with such devastating conditions directly.
