Dean Carol Anne Murdoch-Kinch today announced the promotion of Dr. Lisa Lang to the position of executive associate dean.
Dr. Lang served as interim dean while Dean Murdoch-Kinch was interim chancellor of IUPUI — now IU Indianapolis — from June 2023 to February 2024.
“As interim dean, Dr. Lang served the IU School of Dentistry exceptionally well, committing to excellence and moving our mission and goals forward,” Dean Murdoch-Kinch said. “She has served admirably as associate dean of faculty affairs at IUSD and brings tremendous skill and expertise from her leadership roles at other dental schools.”
As executive associate dean, Dr. Lang will serve as the school executive when Dean Murdoch-Kinch is engaged in external activities off site. In addition to leading the Office of Faculty Affairs and faculty development, Dr. Lang also is assuming operational leadership of two areas: Dental Faculty Practice and the Office of Continuing Education.
“We have tremendous opportunities in both areas to develop successful, sustainable models,” Dean Murdoch-Kinch said. “Both are jewels of the dental school, where the campus, community, and alumni seek to be cared for and educated by our exceptional faculty.”
Dr. Lang is an experienced educator, administrator, and well-respected academic prosthodontist. She joined IUSD in July 2022 as a tenured professor from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where she most recently served as the Dr. and Mrs. Julian B. Woelfel Endowed Chair in Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry and chair of the Department of General Practice and Materials Science and the Department of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry.
Dr. Lang earned her DDS from University of Michigan School of Dentistry. In addition, she completed a certificate in advanced education in general dentistry from Columbia University, a certificate and master’s degree in Prosthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), and a master’s in business administration from Rawls College at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Lang began her academic teaching and administrator career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry and rose through the ranks at UTHSCSA, Case Western Reserve University, and The Ohio State College of Dentistry. Throughout her career, she has garnered grants and shared her scholarly work at national and international forums and in journal and book publications.
Dr. Lang is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and is past president of the Academy of Prosthodontics.
Please join Dean Murdoch-Kinch in congratulating Dr. Lang on this promotion.
