Greetings, Indiana University School of Dentistry colleagues!
I have eagerly awaited this day. I am thrilled to be back at the Indiana University School of Dentistry to lead the school as dean.
I remember my first day at IUSD as a graduate student. Thirty years ago today I arrived from Canada to begin my residency in dental diagnostic sciences. I was amazed to be taught by so many of the experts who wrote the textbooks I used in dental school!
I am most excited to get to know all of you – the faculty, students, staff, alumni, and collaborators here in Indiana and around the world who make IUSD great. You have welcomed me with the Hoosier hospitality that is present in no other dental school. I was struck with a sense of family among our alumni when I attended the dental school’s alumni reunion earlier this month. I can tell you that IUSD already feels like home.
As we celebrate our dental school’s rich 140-year history, I look forward to co-creating our vision of the dental school in 2020 and beyond, to be the best dental school in the world, and putting our plan in action to get us there. I am ready to work with you to advance oral health as an integral component of overall health for all people, and to create the future of our profession.
Thank you again for your warm welcome. It’s great to call Indiana home again.
Sincerely,
Carol Anne
