Apply to our pediatric dentistry preceptorship program
Program description
The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Indiana University School of Dentistry offers an advanced training program to provide unique experiences in research, clinical care, and teaching. The one-year graduate, non-degree program is designed to allow the dentist with previous training in pediatric dentistry to focus on a research area within the discipline. Participants will also provide educational support to the predoctoral pediatric dentistry program. Upon completion of the preceptorship, a certificate of completion is issued as documentation of their participation. This certificate is not the same as the postgraduate program certificate awarded to full-time postgraduate students in specialty programs as a qualification for recognition by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) nor is it considered in the United States as evidence of advanced study or recognition of specialty training. The application deadline is Oct 1 annually.
Program experiences
This research-intensive program includes didactic lectures, self-study sessions, seminars, and a mentored research project with a faculty mentor from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. The preceptor’s experience includes observational rotations through an ambulatory children’s hospital dental clinic and operating room, and hands on clinical experiences in the school of dentistry’s pediatric dentistry clinic. Preceptors also attend and participate in monthly seminars with pediatric dentistry faculty and residents.
