Brian Sanders is the Sarah Jane McDonald Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Indiana University School of Dentistry and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis. He currently serves as the Division Director of the Dental Department at Riley Hospital. He has previously served as the Pediatric Dentistry Program Director and Director of the Pre-Doctoral Pediatric Dentistry Program. Dr. Sanders has also served as the Hospital and Program Director of Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois and Dental Director of the Kennedy Institute for Handicapped Children in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Sanders received his DDS degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland. He received his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and Masters’ Degree from The Ohio State University. He is Board Certified from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the College of Diplomates. He is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and served on the Council of Clinical Affairs for twenty years and previously served as the President of the Foundation of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Sanders has numerous teaching and research publications as well as being an author and associate editor of the 11th edition of the nationally recognized McDonald and Avery’s Dentistry for the Child and Adolescent. In addition to his full-time academic work, he maintains a part time private practice.
