Dr. Romito earned a B.S. in Food Science & Nutrition and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University. She completed a general dental practice residency at the University of Nebraska, and entered private dental practice. As a practicing dentist, she developed an interest in health behavior change and its interrelationship to oral and systemic health, which led her to complete a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Nebraska Methodist College. She began her full-time academic career at Creighton University and in 2005, joined the faculty of the Indiana University School of Dentistry. At IUSD, she served as a course director for several courses, including the biomedical sciences course series, and served as a restorative dentistry instructor in the Fritts Clinical Care Center. Her research interests have included tobacco use and dependence, interprofessional education, and curriculum and assessment. She has been involved with interprofessional education since 2011 having served on several committees which provided the framework for the creation of the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education and Center. At the Center, Dr. Romito served as Assistant Dean for Faculty Development and Engagement recruiting and training faculty to work with interprofessional teams of learners. She also led the development, implementation and assessment of IU's longitudinal, interprofessional, foundational curriculum for health professions learners across IU campuses statewide. In 2022 she was appointed as Associate Dean of Education and Academic Affairs at the IU School of Dentistry where she leads curricular initiatives in the predoctoral program.
