Dental Faculty Practice

Become a Dental Faculty Practice patient

At the Indiana University School of Dentistry’s Dental Faculty Practice, we offer professional oral health care services in a convenient on-campus setting.

The Dental Faculty Practice (DFP) is a general dentistry and multispecialty office staffed by licensed dentists who are full-time faculty members at the School of Dentistry. We’re located in downtown Indianapolis at the school’s Fritts Clinical Care Center.

Students do not treat patients at the Dental Faculty Practice; all care is provided by faculty members.

What services does the DFP offer?

The DFP offers a full range of oral health care services, including:

  • Prophylaxis (teeth cleaning)
  • General dentistry
  • Teeth whitening
  • Crowns and bridges
  • Removable partial dentures
  • Complete dentures
  • Dental implants
  • Consultation services
  • Periodontology (bone or gum disease)
  • Pediatric dentistry (dentistry for children)
  • Orthodontics (braces)
  • Prosthodontics (dentures and dental implants)
  • Endodontics (root canals)
  • Oral medicine and pathology
  • Maxillofacial prosthetics
  • Biopsy and other diagnostic services
  • Tobacco cessation

Who is eligible to be a DFP patient?

Anyone interested in being a DFP patient is welcome. People of all ages are seen in our fully equipped, contemporary facility, including IUPUI students and employees (and their families) and those who live and work downtown, as well as people from many other communities in central Indiana and the Midwest.

Do dental students treat patients in the DFP?

No. DFP members are licensed dentists who hold full-time faculty positions at the School of Dentistry. The DFP is run in a manner similar to private practices in the community.

The School of Dentistry also is home to several clinics where patients are treated by students training to become dentists, hygienists, and other oral health professionals. Services in those clinics are provided at a reduced cost. If you’d like to make an appointment to be treated in one of those clinics, call Patient Services at 317-274-7433.
